Tips On Building A Powerful Personal Brand.
What is your promise or your mythology?
What do you put out to the world? Is it your role at an organization? Your personal mission? We all have promises or a mythology of our lives that tends to speak about our personal brands. Think about the goals you have achieved, the organizations you have contributed to or led and you will start to build a view of one aspect of your personal brand.
What are your core values?
Core values, beliefs, politics, affiliations and manners… all these things build a profile of your personal brand and what that says about you. Also look at major transitions in life, perhaps where you changed careers, or moved and how that has also impacted your brand and values, and how they may have changed over time.
What is your "voice" or energy communicating?
With so many platforms and social media sharing, there are many ways you can be heard. So what are you saying? What is your brand voice? What do you stand for, speak most often about and what might others perceive as your energy? When looking at your personal brand, consider your voice and the content you are generating or participating in as part of the tapestry of your brand.
What does your style say about you?
What am I communicating when I wear this? Coco Chanel had a masterful personal brand that she turned into a fashion empire. While you don’t need to be Coco Chanel, what is your look? Your sense of style and how is your appearance communicating what you are promising in your brand? And… could it be in need of a refresh?
Simplicity is the key note of all true elegance."
